Frank Mahy
Designer-Owner
Frank is a Native Houstonian and grew up in Spring, Texas. Before college, he went to work for Teas Nursery in Spring, where he started his career in the landscape business. Frank has an associate degree in horticulture and floriculture from Texas Technical College. During his college internship, he worked at Cornelius Nursery, and after graduation, he was hired full-time. He later would quit and start Sterling Design. Frank is a Texas Certified Nursery Professional (TCNP #751).
Lori Handley
Project Facilitator
Lori has over 25 years of experience in horticulture, including roles as a wholesale grower, as well as in retail sales and support. Her knowledge allows her to design with an emphasis on native and low-maintenance plants. Her vast knowledge includes the selection of plants that will survive our brutal summers as well as freezing temperatures in our mild winter. Lori is a Texas Certified Nursery Professional (TNCP). She joined the Sterling team in April of 2021.
Brian Brown
Business Administrator
This is Brian's second career. He originally worked for 25 years in Information Technology. He supported the trading and risk management of wholesale natural gas. He brings his business knowledge of everything from Tech Support to Customer Relationships to Accounting to Sterling Design. Brian started in January of 2019.

Before creating Sterling Design, Frank Mahy already had 29 years of experience working for a major nursery corporation. He managed their landscape department for 11 of those years. When the company decided to close the landscape department and focus on retail sales, Frank took the leap to start his own Landscape Design firm. This is the kind of experience that you want when getting your projects fulfilled.
